Cape George 38

Wandrin' Star is a carefully built and lovingly maintained Cape George 38 that has been a floating home for her owners since she was launched in 1991. She features Honduras mahogany and Port Orford cedar and teak interior woods and Honduras Mahogany topside trim. The decks have a low maintenance non-skid gelcoat finish and the spars are Sitka Spruce with SS hardware.

The fir bowsprit features a dual anchor roller, bronze two speed Simpson / Lawrence #555 windlass. The adjoining platform is surrounded by a stainless steel pulpit. Ground tackle consists of a 44 lb. Bruce with 300' of 3/8" chain and a Fortress FX with 38' of chain and 450' nylon rode.

The cabin top has a large Honduras mahogany hatch above the v-berth area, a mahogany "butterfly" skylight hatch above the saloon dining table and sliding companionway hatch, also of Honduras mahogany. The cockpit has a bridge deck to the cabin, spacious flush deck seating with three deck lockers and bronze wheel steering pedestal with binnacle.

Below, there is a large v-berth forward with filler cushion, head to starboard, hanging lockers and drawers to port. The main saloon has a dinette arrangement to starboard with folding leaf table that accommodates diners seated on the port settee. Bookshelves and cabinets outboard of the settees provide lots of storage in addition to the seat back and under seat lockers.

The L shaped galley Is divided from the saloon by the signature Cape George "Keyhole" bulkhead. To port is a chart table with separate refrigerator and freezer compartments beneath. They are chilled by an engine driven compressor. The quarter berth is aft. To port is a centerline sink, with hot and cold hand pump water. The 3 burner kerosene range with oven is built of stainless steel by Mariner in New Zealand.

The engine room doors behind the ladder run from cabin sole to deck height and open up to a cavernous engine room with stowage on the port side including a double scuba tank rack.
